Payer is committed to protecting your privacy and strives to protect your personal data in the best way possible. Payer complies with all applicable regulations for personal data protection. This policy explains what kind of information Payer collects and how we use personal data in our services.
By using Payer’s services, you agree to our use of your personal data in the way described here, including any transfer to another company or to a nation outside the EU (European Union) or EES (European Economic Area), as well as to the ability to use your data for electronic communications.
Payer neither approves nor verifies any external or third-party website or application, and Payer is not responsible and is not liable in any way for their content. To the extent you use such a third-party website or application, the terms and conditions of that website or application apply.
- Categories of personal data we process
Personal data means any kind of information that directly or indirectly can be linked to you. This can include personal data that you provide when you use Payer’s services or that Payer collects either itself or through third parties (for example, public databases, credit reference agencies, stores, etc.). Depending on the service you use, the following information can be considered as personal data that Payer processes:
Contact information and identification information – Name, personal identity number, title, profession, billing and delivery addresses, e-mail address, telephone number. For legal persons, this includes contact information and identification information regarding signatories, employees and beneficial owners.
Payment information – Card details as last four digits, month/year and card type, invoice information, bank account number.
Financial information – Includes information on income and possible payment defaults (used when a credit check is performed).
Item information – Information about the purchases you make (for example, to fulfill invoice information requirements, simplify returns and refunds, or to save receipts)
How you interact with Payer and historical information – How you use Payer’s services, details of past purchases, how you have previously complied with the payment terms, any rejections.
Information about interacting with stores – Information about the types of stores you interact with.
Information about your computer/device – IP address, language settings, browser settings.
Information from external PEP and sanctions lists – Comparison of personal data with lists of individuals who are politically exposed persons (PEP) and persons subject to sanctions.

- Purpose, legal basis and sharing with third parties
Payer processes personal data in order to verify your identity, to manage customer relationships, to prevent misuse or misappropriation of the service, to perform customer analytics, credit assessment, risk analysis, risk management, product and business development, and for commercial and marketing purposes, as well as to comply with applicable agreements and regulatory requirements. For the purposes of marketing research, your data are anonymized.
Ensuring and verifying your identity
Personal identity numbers or email addresses can be used for identification in Payer’s system depending on the service. This is done to perform and fulfill our obligations to you. If you have previously used Payer, Payer can hold saved data about you for the purposes of, for example, customer management, documentation requirements, regulatory compliance or similar approved purposes. Payer potentially uses any such information to verify your identity and to facilitate your use of Payer.
Managing the customer relationship
For administrative purposes and to manage the customer relationship with you in different ways. This includes processing your payment or managing the customer relationship to fulfill our commitments to you. Your data can also be disclosed to the e-retailer or store where you have become a customer or made your purchase. In addition, information can be disclosed in connection with the transfer of a claim to external creditors, collection agencies, or the equivalent.

Your personal identity number is also processed in connection with a purchase on behalf of (or because of requirements from) payment and credit companies that need this information for credit reference purposes. The use of the data may involve interconnection with other registers, both within and outside the EU, and that your personal data is transferred to, and processed by, other companies within Payer’s group of companies and Payer’s partners for the above-mentioned purposes in accordance with the regulations. Data can also be combined or shared with government agencies or with our affiliates, for example for printing and distribution, as well as other payment intermediaries and credit companies for the purposes of payment or credit checks. Payer always exercises the utmost caution at such times, and only to perform and fulfill our obligations to you.
Risk analysis and risk management
To perform a risk analysis with the aim of preventing and hindering fraud, and to manage risks in order to comply with applicable legislation.
Communication and distribution of credit reports
Payer can also use electronic communications (via SMS and email, for example) in our contacts with you or the persons you designate as contact persons or signatories. Payer can disclose information to other companies within the Payer group of companies, who can also use this information in the manner and for the purposes described here. Your email address can be disclosed to a third party, to be used for the electronic notification and distribution of the copy of credit data. If you choose to pay for a purchase by invoice, a credit check can be carried out whereby a credit report is ordered on you. In this case, you will receive a copy of the information disclosed about you. The distribution of this credit data copy is done electronically through an online portal, and login details will be sent to you via email.
Commercial and marketing purposes
Your data can be used for customer surveys, newsletters, and for statistical purposes. The data can also be used for mailings via a postal service, SMS and email.
Offering payment methods
Payer and its partners process your personal data in order to offer you different payment methods and to further simplify the payment process the next time you use Payer. This is done to perform and fulfill our commitments to you. Payer can disclose information to partners who provide payment options in Payer or other companies within Payer’s group of companies, who can also use the information in the manner and for the purposes described here.
Product and business development
Personal data can be used for customer analysis and analysis of purchase behavior in order to provide you with relevant information and to improve the service, website, payment solutions and payment processes. Processing that aims to improve payment solutions and payment processes can include the transfer of your personal data, including your personal identity number, to other companies within Payer’s group of companies and third-party suppliers in order to be included as analytical data. Personal data can also be combined together with data from other records, such as a credit data register.
Acquisitions
If all or part of Payer’s business operations are sold or integrated with another business, your personal data can be disclosed to our advisors, any buyer, and the buyer’s advisor and be passed on to the new owner.

Automatic filling in of your contact details can be done in two ways, through interaction or through cookies.
- Autofill through your interaction
When you use Payer’s services, we can directly or indirectly ask for personal and contact information such as name, address, telephone number, email address, role, title, date of birth or personal identity number. We can also directly or indirectly ask for the names and contact details of signatories as well as company information. We can save this information in our systems. The next time you interact with Payer, you can choose to enter only basic personal and contact information such as phone number, email address, postal code or personal identity number so that we can fill in remaining fields with your other information or identify you using electronic identification such as Mobile BankID. If you do not want to use the autofill feature, you can contact us to adjust your settings. You can also adjust your settings in some of Payer’s services.
- Autofill through cookies
Another method of filling in your data automatically is to recognize your device (computer, tablet, mobile phone, etc.) through a cookie placed on the device. We store your data from previous interactions in cookies, and all this information resides on your device. See the section on Cookies on how you can delete this information yourself.
- Cookies
Payer uses cookies. Cookies are small text files stored on a website visitor’s computer that can be used to track what the visitor is doing on the website. There are two main types of cookies:
1) A persistent cookie, which remains on your computer for a specified period of time.
2) A session cookie, which is temporarily stored in the computer’s memory while you are on a web page.
Session cookies are removed when you close your web browser. Payer uses session cookies, for example, in order to record statistics about the use of our website and facilitate the use of Payer. When you close your web browser, the cookie is removed. Persistent cookies are used for purposes like storing visitors’ personal settings with Payer, or so that you as a visitor do not have to make certain choices again or fill in information every time you use Payer’s services.
We use Google Analytics to understand how our visitors use our product. The data we save cannot be used to identify you, so you remain completely anonymous. The information is collected and saved by Google.
By using Payer’s services, you agree to the processing of cookies. If you do not accept cookies, you can switch off cookies in your web browser’s security settings. You can also set your web browser so that you get a prompt each time Payer’s website tries to place a cookie on your computer. The web browser can also delete previously stored cookies; see your browser’s help pages for more information. In addition, you can manually delete cookies from your hard drive.
Note that if you choose not to accept cookies, you will not be able to make purchases through Payer. The service’s functionality can also be limited in other respects.
- How do we protect your personal data?
To keep the personal data we process secure, we have taken several security measures: We have implemented security procedures and technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data such as encryption and certification technology for web browsers. In addition, we have appropriate firewalls and anti-virus software to safeguard and prevent unauthorized access to our network. Access to the areas where the personal data is stored is limited and requires that employees be identified for access.
Payer uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer), a protocol for secure transmission of data over the internet or other network. You, the customer, must verify that SSL is enabled in your browser settings. In order to prevent unauthorized access during the processing of your debit or credit card number, one-way encryption is also used.
- How long do we save your personal data?
We only save your data for as long as it is necessary for us to perform our contractual obligations to you and to satisfy our contractual interests and rights, and for as long as required by regulatory retention periods. When we save your data for purposes other than contractual purposes, for example to meet anti-money laundering, accounting and regulatory capital requirements, we save the data only for as long as necessary or as is regulated for each purpose.
- What are your rights?
You have the right, in accordance with applicable personal data legislation, to be informed about what personal data is being processed about you, regardless of how it was collected. If you would like such information, please submit a written or online request to us. In accordance with applicable personal data legislation, the request must be submitted by post or email to the address indicated on payer.eu. You have the right, at any time, to revoke the consent to processing of your personal data.
If you believe that your personal data has been processed improperly by us, you can lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority, which in Sweden is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection.
As a data subject, you have the right in some cases to request information from Payer about the use of the personal data relating to you. Payer will, at your request or on our own initiative, correct or delete data that is incorrect or restrict the use of such data. You also have the right to request that your data not be processed for direct marketing purposes. As a data subject, you also have the right to access your personal data in a machine-readable format or, if technically possible, to have the data transferred to a third party that you designate.

Payer regularly changes and improves its services in order to offer a good user experience and therefore reserves the right to change and update the privacy policy. Always review the privacy policy every time you use any of Payer’s services.
